Before booking your tattoo, here are some important notes:

  • All of our artists have varied availability, and we encourage you to visit their websites/social media pages to see if their books are currently open and if their artistic style matches your vision.

  • Each appointment will require a non-refundable deposit. This payment will be deducted from the final cost of your tattoo. For custom projects, there is an additional $50 drawing fee, which is not deducted from the final cost. If you are more than 30 minutes late for your appointment, your deposit will not be refunded.

  • Please allow 4-7 business days for a reply. We value your time and honor your patience!

FAQs

  • Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations, unless under unforeseeable circumstances, but will carry over to your next appointment if you’re unable to make it and notify your artist within 24 hours of your appointment.

  • Each of our artists charge their own individual rates, but generally range between $120-$150 per hour. Flash prices are listed with each option when an artist releases new designs

  • Birdhouse accepts both cash and cards. For tips, the artists also accept Venmo (and other cash apps), but we are unable to accept these as payment for your tattoo.

  • Tips are not a requirement, but always greatly appreciated by your artist. A good rule of thumb is to tip as you would at a restaurant. Your satisfaction will be reflected in the percentage you choose. Other forms of tips will be just as appreciated! Our artists love non-monetary gifts such as handmade gifts, plants, and baked goods (check in before hand, though, to make sure your artist doesn’t have any dietary restrictions).

  • Yes! We take walk-ins daily from 11 am - 7 pm

  • Unless you can provide a doctor’s note or prescription, the state of Oregon prohibits artists from tattooing anyone under the age of 18, even with parental/guardian permission. We can only accept government-issued, not expired, IDs such as driver’s licenses, driver’s permits, and passports.

  • This is personal preference for each artist, however we do have an artist who specializes in tattoo reworks. When submitting your tattoo proposal, mention Rian as your preferred artist and then include a description of your tattoo needs help with.

  • Most of our artists only tattoo their own original designs and won’t duplicate artwork from other sources, however we do have Andrew Baker who’s ready to take walk-ins almost every day of the week, and will tattoo license-free imagery found online.

  • Absolutely! We also offer free color tests to see how various ink pigments will heal under different skin tones. Tattooing offers constant learning opportunities for our artists, and it’s important to us all to expand our skillset of tattooing all skin tones/types.

  • A positive tattoo experience starts wth self care the night before. Here are some things you can do to make getting a tattoo a little easier:
    - Avoid alcohol the night before.
    - Get extra sleep.
    - Wake up to a healthy morning routine with a hearty breakfast, long shower, and freshly moisturized skin.
    - Wear comfy loose fitting clothes to your appointment, and feel free to bring a book your headphones to listen to if you think you could benefit from a distraction (our artists won’t mind if you need to get into your own headspace and be silent).
    - You can bring snacks and beverages if your tattoo session is expected to be long, but also keep in mind that we’re stocked with complimentary snacks, water, tea and coffee if you need a little pick-me-up.

  • Nope! We encourage you to let your tattoo artist handle shaving during your appointment.

Once your submission form has been reviewed we will get in touch about your inquiry

On the day of your appointment, feel free to clarify with your artist any specific needs you’d like to address before starting your tattoo session. This might include:

  • Your preference for a silent tattoo session vs. a desire for more conversation.

  • Your mask preference: each of our artists have different policies around mask-wearing, so check in if you’d prefer your artist wear a mask or if you’re fine going mask-less (We’re all fully vaccinated and boosted)

  • If you brought a meal that needs to be kept cool, we can store it in our fridge until you’re ready for a meal. Additionally, we can heat it up in our microwave if you’d like.

  • We also have a variety of snack bars, tea options, and coffee if you’re needing a little boost to get you through your appointment.

Do not hesitate to request a change of size or placement of the stencil

Each of our artists are happy to make multiple adjustments to get the stencil just right. We’re happy to try different placements and print out different sizes of stencils. There is no pressure to make a quick decision on placement, so take as much time as you need.

Take all the breaks

While getting your tattoo, it’s absolutely okay to request a break. Anytime you need to get up and move around, use the restroom, eat or drink something, or make a quick phone call, just say the word. (Often times our artists are so focused, they’ve lost track of time and could use a break themselves)
